Brazilian retailer Grupo Mateus has announced plans to open a distribution centre in Ceara and 59 new stores in a period of five years.
According to an article in Focus.jor, the group has already started the process to open its first store in Sobral, Ceara. The company considers it a strategic state and proof of that is the bold investment planned for the next five years that includes a new distribution centre capable of supplying its own stores and wholesale, as well as supplying local retailers.
The company from Maranhao is taking into consideration the municipalities of the interior of the state but also intends to have strong presence in Fortaleza, the state’s capital.
“The Sao Mateus Group has an investment plan for the next five years in Ceara, foreseeing the creation of at least 12,946 direct jobs, distributed in 59 business units spread across the capital and cities of the interior, in addition to the creation of thousands of indirect jobs”, said the retailer in a statement.
The project is subject to the state’s regulatory authority approval.
