Dutch pharmacy chain Kruidvat, owned by Asian conglomerate AS Watson, has launched a new city store concept in Antwerp, Belgium.
According to Retail Detail, the new Kruidvat In De Stad (‘Kruidvat In The City’) concept is designed for city centre locations, offering more shelf space for beauty products, on-the-go snacks and weekly offers, alongside the retailer’s traditional range. Large screens, modern designs and “innovative” product presentation are described as being among the other features of the new store format.
Gerard van Breen, CEO of AS Watson Benelux, said: “We want our stores to respond to the needs of our customers. In busy shopping areas, customers are more inclined towards beauty products and fashion accessories, so we have created more space for this in our city store. The new store concept offers snacks and chilled drinks for on the go, and, for added convenience, there is free Wifi in the store”.
Following on from the first Kruidvat In De Stad opening in Antwerp, a second outlet in the city of Genk is now being planned.
