Streitdorf, has announced the launch of Tann-Heimathofe, a new brand said to be focused on animal welfare.

According to a statement made by the retailer, the new brand will use meat from pigs that are reared in at least 60% more space than conventional methods, with large and clean outdoor and indoor areas. High quality feed is also said to be used as part of the process.

Helmut Gattringer, Head of Tann (Meats) St. Polten said: “Tann-Heimathofe is not just a new brand, but a strategy, combining animal-welfare, quality produce and support for innovative pork producers in our country. I am convinced that this concept will be a benchmark for the Austrian meat market”.

Spar Austria CEO Hans K. Reisch added: “Spar Austria aims to support the local economy. Projects that focus on regional, quality produce are incredibly valuable to all parties involved, helping producers, retailers and consumers”.

The brand is being launched at Spar, Eurospar, Interspar and Spar-Gourmet stores.
