Beam Suntory and Frucor Suntory have announced the launch of Suntory Oceania, a A$3 billion ($2 billion) partnership to manufacture and distribute premium spirits and alcohol-free drinks in Australia and New Zealand.
Suntory Oceania will market 40 leading alcoholic drinks brands including Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Hibiki Whisky, and Canadian Club, with the non-alcoholic drinks portfolio including Orangina, Lucozade, Ribena, BOSS coffee, Iyemon green tea, and Suntory Tennensui water.
Commenting on the partnership, Frucor Suntory CEO Darren Fullerton said: “This new venture is all about bringing the best of Suntory to Oceania. With the ability to accelerate our growth trajectory, we strongly believe it will redefine market dynamics and offer more consumer beverage moments from sunrise to sunset, unlocking innovation for our customers across retail and hospitality industries”.
The venture, which is expected to be fully operational in Australia by mid-2025 and in New Zealand by 2026, also includes the construction of a a new A$400 million ($262 million) facility in Queensland with capacity for 20 million cases of drinks.
Further work to establish the partnership will occur over the coming year with each partner retaining its own distinct legal entity.
