BRF, one of the world’s seven largest food companies, has announced that it has started the process of acquiring the meat and margarine brands Vienissima, GoodMark, Manty and Delicia from leading Argentinian firm Molinos Rio de la Plata.
The deal aims to “develop the businesses, consolidate production capacity and amplify [BRF’s] portfolio of brands and products”, the company said in a statement.
BRF has invested more than $300 million in Argentina since 2011 and aims to use the new acquisition to “integrate local operations in the company’s global platform, forming a production and export hub”.
Molinos Rio said that, as part of the deal, it had agreed not to compete against the brands in the hamburger, sausages and spreads sectors.
