Skip, the UK-based functional soft drinks company, has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of its first beverages featuring lion’s mane mushroom extract.
The new Skip Lion’s Mane range is being launched exclusively across the 625-store estate of UK retailer Home Bargains. Available in two sparkling flavours – Blood Orange and Cloudy Apple – the drinks are packaged in 250ml cans and marketed as a vegan-friendly, no-added-sugar option. Each serving contains 2,000mg of organic lion’s mane extract, an amount the company claims is significantly higher than that of competing brands. The formulation is also fortified with fruit juices and vitamins B6 and B12 to support nervous system function and reduce fatigue.
The launch follows the brand’s previous entry into the functional space with a line of cold-pressed CBD drinks, reflecting a broader trend towards mood-enhancing ingredients and functional fungi in the UK beverage sector.
Skip co-founder Adam Pritchard commented: “What sets us apart is our depth of experience in functional ingredients, including functional mushrooms, and our work with researchers from the University of Oxford. In our two new drinks, we have made Lion’s Mane our key ingredient at a high level […] to provide a meaningful benefit to customers at an affordable price”.
The drinks are currently retailing at a promotional price of £0.99 ($1.26). Skip anticipates sales of approximately 500,000 cans across its full range throughout January.
