French-based brioche specialist Sicard has announced the sale of a factory in Saint-Jean-de-Beugne to bakery peer La Boulangere & Co.
According to sources, the factory is an 3,000 sq m in size and sits on a 40,000 sq mt plot.
Commenting on the decision, Sicard president Véronique Sicard said: “This partial sale is an essential step in ensuring the company’s sustainability and preserving jobs, while allowing the group to refocus on its core business: the production and marketing of Sicard brioches and other sweet specialties”.
Christophe Aillet, managing director of La Boulangere & Co, added: “Our geographical proximity and our respective industrial activities have brought us closer together, in a difficult economic context for some. We are pleased to allow Sicard to focus on its strategic priorities. Ensuring continuity and preserving the jobs of employees at the Saint-Jean-de-Beugne site during this acquisition was a fundamental point for both the Sicard Group and La Boulangere & Co”.
Details of the deal were not disclosed.
