Wells Enterprises, the US ice cream maker, has announced plans to expand its Dunkirk, New York manufacturing plant, generating more than 200 jobs.
The company, which was acquired by Ferrero in December 2022 but continues to operate independently, said the investment was key to boosting production for brands like Blue Bunny, Blue Ribbon Classics, Bomb Pop, and Halo Top.
Commenting on the move, Wells Enterprises CEO Liam Killeen said: “The investment in Dunkirk illustrates our passion to provide high-quality premium ice cream products that bring joy to consumers around the world. The planned expansion also reinforces our dedication to our team, consumers, and the community as a critical part of the long-term future of our company”.
The expansion is anticipated to more than double the facility’s current output and help support the company’s continued plans for growth in novelty and packaged ice cream.
Construction is planned to begin in the fall of 2023, with official groundbreaking in early 2024.
