US-based food and beverage company The J.M. Smucker Co has announced plans to build a new R&D facility in its Orrville campus in Ohio, USA.
According to sources, the new 29,000 sq. ft lab will support the firm’s Smucker’s Uncrustables brand and the company plans to develop new products in the facility, test innovative products and to seek new opportunities to optimise productivity.
Tina Floyd, senior vice president and general manager, consumer foods of J.M. Smucker, said: “We are excited to support the momentum of our Uncrustables brand and our continued work to meet the unprecedented demand for the product through this new R&D facility, which we anticipate going live in the fall of 2023”.
In the next five years, J.M. Smucker estimates that annual sales of the Smucker’s Uncrustables brand will be approximately $1 billion.
