Italian discount retailer In’s Mercato is planning to open 30 new stores this year, aiming to expand market penetration and to consolidate its brand.
According to European Supermarket Magazine, the retailer, owned by Pam-Panorama Group, is also planning to restyle 90 stores in 2021, in the Northeast, Northwest, and Central Italy, in addition to the 30 new store openings.
The new stores will feature the In’s Forno bakery, In’s Orto which sells fruit and vegetables and offers a range of products of Italian origin, PGI, and seasonal products, and a new department named In’s Pescheria, which sells packaged fish and seafood as well as ready meals.
The Venetian retailer is the fourth biggest discounter in this segment in the country (Eurospin, Lidl and MD are in the lead) and the chain has more than 470 stores in nine regions of Italy.
