Brazilian biscuits manufacturer Marilan has announced the acquisition of Casa Suica, a company that produces cakes.
According to sources, Casa Suica has a large portfolio of premium cakes and panettones and this fact will enable Marilan to start producing these products as well as advancing in the general distribution of products in the South and Southeast of Brazil, two strategic areas for the sale of biscuits, where two years ago, its competitor M. Dias Branco bought the company Piraque to be able to grow in these regions.
Sergio Tavares, presidente of Marilan said: “As well as the organic expansion in the biscuits market, the acquisitions of companies and the entry into new categories and markets are also part of our growth strategy. We have just opened our new industrial unit in Igarassu / PE, and now with this acquisition, Marilan, which is present in more than 70% of Brazilian homes, will expand the distribution of the Casa Suica brand, currently concentrated in the South and Southeast Regions”.
