Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant, has announced the completion of the unification of its group legal structure under a single parent company, Unilever plc.
Founded in 1930, Unilever has been operating under two separated listed companies – a Dutch NV and a UK plc. With the unification, Unilever NV will merge into Unilever plc.
“This is an important day for Unilever and we would like to thank our shareholders for their strong support of our Unification proposals, which give us greater flexibility for strategic portfolio change, remove complexity and further improve governance”, commented Unilever chairman Nils Andersen.
According to the company, the unification will not affect the operations, locations, activities, or staffing levels in either the Netherlands or the UK. The headquarter of Unilever’s Foods & Refreshment Division will continue to be based in Rotterdam while the Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care Divisions will continue to be headquartered in the UK.
