China: Yakult to start construction on new plant

Probiotic dairy drink manufacturer Yakult Honsha  has announced the construction of a new plant in Foshan, Guangdong, China.

According to Yakult, Guangzhou Yakult started construction on the Foshan plant in July.

The new factory will produce Yakult and Yakult Light fermented milk drinks and will be the third plant for Guangzhou Yakult, and the sixth for the Yakult group, in China.

“Guangdong Province is witnessing strong demand for Yakult in its central cities, given the growing health awareness among people and sales are also expected to expand in suburban cities, which prompted the construction of the Foshan Plant following Guangzhou Plant and Guangzhou Plant 2”, Yakult said in a statement.

The new plant is expected to start production in March 2019.
