Nightingale Ice Cream, a US ice cream sandwiches producer, has announced plans to relocate to a newly developed $5.8 million production site in Southside (VA), creating 166 jobs.
Founded in 2016, Nightingale is a specialist in handcrafted ice cream products, with its range available in over 5,000 retail locations including Whole Foods Market, Kroger, The Fresh Market and Harris Teeter.
The new facility spans 29,000 sq ft and was originally built in 1983 on a five-acre lot. It will house both Nightingale’s corporate offices and its production operations, with most of the space used for manufacturing.
Commenting on the move, Nightingale’s co-founder, CEO and president Pollack said: “What began in the kitchen of a Richmond restaurant has grown into something beyond what we ever imagined. Receiving this support from the commonwealth is an incredible honor and a powerful vote of confidence in our vision. We’re deeply grateful for the support which will help us accelerate our growth while staying true to our Richmond, Virginia, roots”.
