Clorox, the US cleaning and consumer goods manufacturer, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gojo Industries, the maker of Purell hand sanitiser, in a cash transaction valued at $2.25 billion.

The deal, which includes anticipated tax benefits that bring the net purchase price to approximately $1.92 billion, is designed to significantly expand Clorox’s presence in the professional hygiene sector. GOJO, a family-owned business headquartered in Akron (OH), generates nearly $800 million in annual sales, with over 80% of its revenue derived from B2B channels. The acquisition brings the market-leading Purell brand into the Clorox portfolio, alongside existing professional cleaning lines.

Clorox chair and CEO Linda Rendle commented: “This is a compelling acquisition that evolves our portfolio and scales our fastest growing, most profitable operating segment – Health and Wellness […] GOJO’s deep commitment to innovation and delivering superior value in skin hygiene has built Purell into one of the most trusted names in homes, healthcare facilities, schools and businesses around the world”.

The transaction is expected to close before the end of Clorox’s 2026 fiscal year. The company stated that it expects to achieve at least $50 million in run-rate cost synergies by leveraging its scale and distribution capabilities.
