Barilla Group, the international food company, has entered into an agreement to acquire Goodles, the US-based boxed mac and cheese brand.
Founded in October 2020 as Gooder Foods and based in Santa Cruz (CA), Goodles produces mac and cheese products distributed across major and independent US retailers. Following the transaction, Goodles will continue to operate independently as a standalone brand from its Santa Cruz headquarters, retaining its 73-person team under co-founder and chief executive officer Jen Zeszut.
Commenting on the deal, Ms Zeszut said: “We chose the Barilla Group because they can help us innovate and grow internationally while letting us make gooder decisions and maintain our quality”.
Barilla Group chairman Guido Barilla added: “We had been following GOODLES closely for some time and became increasingly impressed by the strength of the brand, the quality of its products, and the momentum behind its growth”.
