US meat snack company Archer has announced the opening of a second production facility, nearly doubling its total manufacturing capacity.
Located in the Vernon district of Los Angeles (CA), the plant will span an area of 140,000 sq ft and focus solely on meat stick production. An existing facility in San Bernardino (CA) will continue producing both jerky and meat sticks.
Commenting on the move, Archer founder and chief executive officer Eugene Kang said: “The explosive growth of our meat stick products made increasing our production capabilities essential, and doing this in Los Angeles was an intentional choice”.
“Our founding principle has always been that supply chain ownership is crucial for maximizing margins and ensuring quality control, as evidenced by our jerky business”, he added. “This expansion represents our next strategic step to vertically integrate our fastest growing product line”.
The new site is expected to be operational in early September and to generate more than 200 new jobs.
