Butler’s Farmhouse Cheeses, the UK-based independent cheesemaker, has officially opened a new “Cheese Campus” in Lancashire following a major fire at its previous distribution centre in 2023.

The new facility, located at the Longridge Business Centre, represents a significant rebuild and expansion for the fourth-generation family business.

The plant serves as a central hub for the company’s operations, housing its office, packing, and distribution teams. The site is designed to support the firm’s growth and houses its portfolio of traditional and modern cheeses, including brands such as Blacksticks, Button Mill and Trotter Hill. According to the company, the opening marks the completion of a recovery phase that began immediately after the fire, which had destroyed its previous warehouse.

Matthew Hall, owner of Butler’s Farmhouse Cheeses, said: “The opening of our Cheese Campus is a huge moment for us. It’s not just a new building; it’s a symbol of our resilience and our commitment to our people, our heritage and the future of British farmhouse cheese”. He added that the facility would enable the company to “drive the next generation of farmhouse cheese”.
