Leading Spain-based snack company Grupo Apex has announced the acquisition of the brand and assets of Uriarte Iturrate, formerly part of the Ecolumber Group, including its production plant in Murgia (Alava), along with machinery, technology, trademarks and patents.
The acquisition extends Grupo Apex’s portfolio to 13 production sites, bringing in seven employees as well as a patented microwave technique and the Air Nuts snack line.
Commenting on the move, Grupo Apex CEO Santiago Sala said: “This addition fully reflects our vision of growth and innovation, reinforcing our commitment to healthier, more natural, and sustainable snacking. Microwave technology is a unique advancement that will allow us to develop completely differentiating products with high added value for our consumers”.
Headquartered in Ribaforada, Navarra, Grupo Apex employs around 850 people and has a portfolio of brands that includes Aspitos, Jumpers, Popitas, Marinas, Vicente Vidal and Pop Up.
