German discount retailer Aldi has announced plans to open 40 new stores in Spain in 2025 as part of ongoing expansion plans.
According to sources, Aldi is looking to open new stories in Murcia and consolidate its presence in the Balearics and the Canary Islands, starting with a store opening at the end of January on the island of Lanzarote.
Elsewhere, the remainder of the new stoires – more than half of the total – will be accounted for by Andalusia, the Community of Madrid, Valencia and Catalonia. The first of these openings have already taken place in Barcelona and Valencia.
Northern Spain will also see store openings supported by a new distribution centre located in Miranda de Ebro, Burgos.
The expansion of Aldi’s store network in 2025 follows the announcement of 50 new openings last year.
