Portugal: Spar expands logistics capacity with new warehouse

Spar, the Dutch-founded international retail chain, has increased its logistics capabilities in Portugal with the opening of a new warehouse in Alverca.

Managed by Spar Portugal’s partner, the logistics firm JTM Group, the new facility covers an area of 4,000 sq m. The warehouse is designed to support the retailer’s expansion strategy by improving the distribution of dry goods to its network of stores across the country. According to Spar Portugal, the Alverca site will enhance operational efficiency and provide the necessary infrastructure to meet growing consumer demand.

The opening follows a period of growth for the retailer in the Portuguese market, where it operates a variety of store formats including Spar and Spar Express. The new logistics hub is expected to streamline supply chain operations, ensuring a consistent flow of FMCG products to retail outlets.
