Dutch retail conglomerate Ahold Delhaize has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell 87 stores in Romania to local supermarket chain Annabella.
Annabella, which has over 30 years of history of operating in the Romanian market, has an existing network of 118 shops spread across Argeș, Brașov, Dambovița, Giurgiu, Ialomița, Olt and Valcea counties.
The move comes as part of the conditions set by the Romanian Competition Council after Ahold Delhaize completed its €1.3 billion ($1.35 billion) takeover of Profi earlier this year. The divestment consists of 82 outlets under the Profi banner, and five operating as Mega Image.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including RCC merger clearance, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
