Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD), the Indian spirits company, has entered Malaysia through an asset-light co-bottling partnership to manufacture and distribute its Officer’s Choice Blue whisky locally.
The agreement marks ABD’s first overseas local production partnership and is designed to facilitate market entry with limited capital outlay. Under the arrangement, ABD will collaborate with an established local partner while retaining control over raw materials, packaging, quality standards and brand stewardship.
Officer’s Choice Blue will be available in 750ml, 180ml and 90ml pack sizes. According to the company, additional brands may be introduced under the framework over time depending on market response, while similar co-production partnerships are being evaluated in other international markets. The spirits market in Malaysia is expected to grow at a mid-teens rate in the coming years, according to reports.
Managing director Amar Sinha said the company’s international business is being built around a disciplined approach combining market expansion with capital efficiency, adding that local production in Malaysia represents an important milestone to serve consumers while improving market agility.
