Italy: Orior takes full ownership of Pastificio Gaetarelli

Orior, the Swiss food and beverage group, has acquired the remaining 81% stake in Italian fresh pasta manufacturer Pastificio Gaetarelli. The transaction, which follows a long-standing operational partnership between the two firms, sees Orior increase its initial 19% minority holding to full ownership.

The purchase price for the 81% shareholding was reported to be approximately $6.2 million. The acquisition is expected to add around $2.5 million in sales to third-party customers across Europe.

Based in Salo on Lake Garda, Pastificio Gaetarelli was founded in 1964 and specialises in high-quality fresh pasta for the retail and foodservice sectors. The company, which employs approximately 30 staff, will continue to operate as an independent entity under the management of Orior’s Pastinella business unit.

In a media statement, Orior said the move was aligned to its strategy of “consistently strengthening its strategic position in the premium fresh pasta segment and sending a clear signal for focused, value-creating growth”.

The deal is part of a broader strategic realignment initiated by Orior in August last year to reduce debt and focus on core activities. This programme also includes a review of strategic options for the Belgium-based Culinor Food Group, which Orior acquired in 2016.
