Edeka Nord, the regional subsidiary of German retail giant Edeka, has fully commissioned its new central warehouse in Neumunster-Eichhof following the completion of its second construction phase.
The project represents a three-digit million euro investment and serves as the primary logistics hub for Northern Germany, supplying Edeka stores across Schleswig-Holstein and Northern Hamburg. Spanning a total of 110,000 sq m, the facility features advanced automation technology from Witron, including its Order Picking Machinery (OPM) and Car Picking System (CPS). According to the company, the site employs approximately 800 people and is designed to process up to 338,000 units per day.
The completion of the facility comes as Edeka continues to expand its footprint in the German market. The group recently reached an agreement to take over a substantial part of the Tegut Group from Migros, which includes the Michelsrombach logistics centre.
Commenting on the launch, the company stated that the new logistics centre is a milestone for its regional supply chain, ensuring it can meet the growing needs of independent retailers with greater speed and precision.
