Bonduelle, the French vegetable processor, has announced the sale of its packaged salad business in Germany to Taylor Farms, effective 31st March
“This divestment, aligned with the ‘Transform to Win’ plan revealed on August 29, marks a key milestone in enhancing the group’s operational profitability”, the firm said in a statement, noting it was also accelerating its growth in the European fresh delicatessen market and reinforcing its foothold in America, in particular with the recent introduction of the Bonduelle brand.
Despite exiting the packaged salad sector, Bonduelle said it remained committed to the German market through its canned and frozen food operations, and stressed that the brand would continue to have a presence in the packaged salad category via a licensing agreement.
Despite generating €60 million ($66 million) in revenue, the German packaged salad business, was “structurally loss-making”, Bonduelle added.
