Arla, the Danish dairy cooperative, has announced plans to invest €50.9 million ($59.6 million) in its Bahrain facility to increase production for its Puck spreadable cheese.

The planned €50.9 million ($59.6 million) investment will boost production capacity by about 30%, add warehouse and plant facilities, create 20 new jobs, and incorporate sustainable features such as rooftop solar panels and a modernised cooling system.

Commenting on the move, Arla Foods executive vice president of international Lillie Li Valeur said: “We have a great production setup already in place and we have a popular product expected to grow in demand”.

“Combined with our ambitious company strategy and solid financial situation, that makes for a logical investment to make and I am very pleased to announce it today”, she added. “It will benefit consumers, strengthen the great collaboration we have with customers in the region and of course create value for our farmer owners”.

Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2025.
