Heineken, the international brewing group has signed an agreement to acquire RainForest Water, the Costa Rican premium brand of artesian water through its local subsidiary Distributor to Florida.
RainForest Water captures and bottles artesian water directly at the source in the Sarapiquí region of Costa Rica using exclusively recyclable and reusable aluminium bottles to eliminate plastic. Powered by renewable energy, its operations are complemented by initiatives in reforestation, forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and local community development.
According to the companies, integration into Heineken’s structure will allow RainForest Water to accelerate its expansion into new markets while maintaining its principles of innovation, quality, and sustainability. The acquisition strengthens Heineken’s presence in the non-alcoholic beverage segment in Costa Rica.
Ariel Aizenman, founder and CEO of RainForest Water, stated: “This agreement confirms that innovation, quality, and purpose can transform a Costa Rican product into a brand of international value”.
The completion of the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including obtaining necessary regulatory approvals. Upon completion, RainForest Water will become part of Distribuidora La Florida’s portfolio.
