Sydney-based Tempo Group has acquired the intellectual property and brand portfolio of Spring Gully Foods – including the Spring Gully, Gardener, Leabrook Farms and Ozemite labels – after the South Australian condiment maker entered voluntary administration in October.
Spring Gully Foods, founded in 1946 and known for jams, sauces, pickles and relishes, ceased trading in October with reported debts of around A$3.8 million ($2.5 million).
Tempo declined to disclose financial terms of the deal. In a statement, Tempo Executive Director Nicholas Stergiotis said: “Spring Gully Foods holds a special place in the hearts of Australian consumers. We’re proud to ensure this iconic brand continues its journey under the Tempo Group, backed by our strong FMCG network and commitment to quality”.
The acquisition adds to Tempo’s growing food-focused portfolio, which already includes seafood and snacks brands. The company said the move strengthens its presence in the “shelf-stable and pantry goods” sector and supports a long-term growth strategy.
