Brazilian meat producer Aurora Coop has announced an investment of around R$210 million ($39.4 million) to modernise and expand its poultry slaughter and processing plant located in Tapejara, Rio Grande do Sul.

According to sources, the updated plant was inaugurated on 18th November and is said to enable the company to increase its revenue to around R$238 million ($44.7 million) per year, operating in one shift, a monthly average of R$19.8 million ($3.7 million).

Neivor Canton, president of agribusiness at Aurora Coop, said: “The investment in broiler chicken production is a strategic milestone for Aurora Coop. It expands our portfolio, reinforces competitiveness and strengthens the brand in key international markets. With this initiative, we are now playing a leading role in a high-demand segment, consolidating Aurora Coop among the major Brazilian chicken exporters and reaffirming our commitment to innovation, expansion and global presence”.

The total built area is said to have been expanded to 18,565 sq mt. The improvements will reportedly increase slaughter capacity and enable the production and development of new products.
