Carrefour, the leading French supermarket chain, has announced the acquisition of the Super A supermarket chain, which operates 16 stores in the western Argentinian province of Mendoza, for an undisclosed amount.
As part of the deal, all Super A locations will be rebranded as Carrefour Express and will begin operating under the new banner this month.
Carrefour said the acquisition strengthened its position as the largest supermarket chain in Argentina, with a network of more than 700 stores across 22 provinces. The move also doubles the company’s planned convenience store openings for the year, and comes shortly after the company reached the milestone of 500 Carrefour Express stores in Argentina with a new opening in Cordoba.
This transaction forms part of Carrefour’s 2025–27 growth strategy, which includes a €347 million ($408 million) investment to open 100 new branches and create 2,500 jobs across Argentina.
