Nestle, the food and beverage company, has announced an investment of R$2 billion ($360 million) in its Nutrition and Health division in Brazil up to 2028.

The flagship project is a new R$600 million ($108 million) infant formula factory in Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais, designed to expand supply for the domestic market and create future export opportunities. Construction of the largely automated plant is scheduled to begin in 2027, creating around 700 jobs during construction and 100 direct roles when operational in 2028.

The factory will initially produce the Nestogeno, Nestonutri, Ninho 1+ and Ninho 3+ infant formula brands. The investment accounts for roughly 30% of the R$7 billion ($1.26 billion) total investments announced by Nestle for Brazil between 2025 and 2028.

Commenting on the news, Marcelo Melchior, CEO of Nestle Brasil, said: “Nutrition and Health is among Nestle’s four strategic growth priorities globally and in Brazil. It brings together some of the company’s highest value-added categories, supported by strong investment in research, development and production technologies”.
