Piwowarska, the Polish brewing company owned by Asahi Europe & International, has completed the construction of an automated high-bay warehouse at its brewery in Poznan.

The project, valued at 200 million PLN ($51 million), represents the largest logistics investment in the history of the business. Officially set to open in September, the facility occupies a total footprint of 12,000 sq m. The warehouse component spans 7,000 sq m with a height of around 40m, housing 40,000 pallets. The development also features a loading hall equipped with 18 docks, an electrical power station, sanitary and office space, and a fire protection system. General contracting was handled by PORR, with project management led by APP-Projekt.

The investment will enable the consolidation of the brewer’s distribution network, increasing direct deliveries from the brewery to customer warehouses from 50% to around 90% and eliminating the need for satellite or buffer warehouses. According to the company, the optimised distribution model will reduce transport-related carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,300 tonnes per year.

The new building is the second automated high-bay warehouse within Asahi Europe & International, following a facility opened in Pilsen in 2023 by Plzensky Prazdroj.
