Champagne Louis Roederer, the French Champagne producer has expanded into the Burgundy wine region for the first time by acquiring Domaine Pierre Damoy.
The deal completed on 24th July, brings nearly eight hectares of grand cru vineyards into the group’s Roederer Collection portfolio. The acquired assets include parcels in Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Beze and Chapelle-Chambertin, alongside Clos Tamisot, a monopole vineyard located in Gevrey-Chambertin. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The purchase comes as the family-owned producer marks its 250th anniversary. The estate joins a global portfolio of wineries spanning France, Portugal and the USA.
Commenting on the acquisition, Louis Roederer CEO Frederic Rouzaud said: “In the year Louis Roederer celebrates its 250th anniversary, establishing a presence in Burgundy, one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions, and becoming the steward of one of its great estates carries a special meaning for us”.
