Platinum Equity, a global investment firm and Nestle, the food and beverage group have announced plans to create a 50 / 50 joint venture named Peranel for Nestle waters and premium beverages business.
Assigning an enterprise value of $5.6 billion (€4.9 billion) to Peranel, the transaction covers a portfolio of more than 30 brands sold in 120 countries, including S.Pellegrino, Source Perrier, Acqua Panna and Nestle Pure Life. Headquartered in Paris, the standalone business will be led by CEO Muriel Lienau and includes an in-house R&D team that has contributed to approximately 120 launches since 2022.
Commenting on the deal, Philipp Navratil, ceo of Nestle, said: “by partnering with Platinum Equity, Peranel will be better positioned to execute its strategy with enhanced agility. Through additional focus, it will be well equipped to drive its long-term growth ambitions by strengthening this unique portfolio of international and local brands, with continued investments in innovation, premiumisation, operational excellence and sustainability”.
Subject to employee consultation processes and applicable regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close by the first half of 2027.
