Henkel, the German consumer goods manufacturer, has opened a new high-bay warehouse expansion at its headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany, consolidating central warehousing capacity for laundry, cleaning, and hair care products.
Following an investment of €45 million ($52 million), the facility consolidates five central warehousing locations previously spread across Germany and the Benelux region. The expansion integrates with an existing automated facility to create a logistics centre with a capacity of over 200,000 pallet spaces on a 24,000 sq m footprint. It represents Henkel’s largest consumer goods warehouse in Europe, and the logistics centre features a direct rail connection to transport goods from its production site in Wassertrudingen, Bavaria.
Commenting on the development, Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel said: “The new state-of-the-art warehouse, in which we have invested 45 million euros, represents an important step toward more efficient logistics structures in our consumer business”.
Wolfgang König, member of the management board for Henkel Consumer Brands, added: “In the future, our customers in Germany and the Benelux region will be able to order products from the entire consumer goods portfolio with a single order, one delivery, and one invoice”.
