Amadori, the Italian meat specialist company, has announced its acquisition of the plant-based protein firm Unconventional from Granarolo.
Unconventional is an alternative meat business based in Italy. Its product portfolio comprises plant-based meat alternatives, including frozen burgers, sausages, meatballs and fillets. The brand is a market leader in the Italian alternative meat sector and has established a presence in several European markets.
Amadori stated that the transaction aligns with its strategic objective to expand its presence in the protein sector and diversify its product offering, complementing its core poultry and meat operations. Financial details of the transaction value were not disclosed by the companies, though Unconventional is reported to have revenues of around €20 million ($21.5 million).
The acquisition is expected to allow Amadori to leverage Unconventional’s brand equity and market position to accelerate its growth in the plant-based food industry.
