Bisca, the Danish manufacturer of cakes and biscuits, has acquired East Coast Bakehouse to expand its European platform and strengthen its market position in the UK and Ireland.
East Coast Bakehouse, an Irish biscuit company founded in 2016 and based in Drogheda, specializes in chocolate chip and chocolate-coated biscuits, alongside specialty vegan and high-protein variants. The company employs approximately 70 people and primarily serves retail chains in the UK and Ireland, which account for more than 90% of its business. Following the deal, East Coast Bakehouse will continue to operate its production facility in Ireland as part of the Bisca Group.
Commenting on the acquisition, Kristian Walsøe, CEO of Bisca, stated: “East Coast Bakehouse’s products are an excellent fit with our portfolio and complement our current offering. They have a strong presence in Ireland and the UK, while we are well established in the Nordics and Northern Europe, creating a strong combined geographical platform”.
Bisca, a Royal Warrant Holder in Denmark, produces approximately 13,000 tonnes of products annually. Its brand portfolio includes Karen Volf, Karen’s Bakery, Snofler, All in one, and MON.
