LDC, the French family-owned poultry group, has secured court approval to acquire 100% of the share capital of France Poultry from the Saudi Arabian agri-food business Almunajem Foods.
The transaction, sanctioned by the Rennes Commercial Court in February, is expected to complete by 31st December. As part of the settlement agreement, LDC will also acquire a 35.5% stake in the hatchery and feed business Yer Breizh, France Poultry’s primary supplier, by 11th March.
France Poultry operates an export-oriented slaughterhouse in Chateaulin, Brittany, which was established following the acquisition of Doux SA in 2018. LDC plans to reorient the facility’s operations starting in 2027, shifting focus away from Middle East exports – which it described as unprofitable under current economic conditions – towards the French domestic market. The group also intends to build a new poultry slaughterhouse at the site to meet rising demand for French-origin chicken, with commissioning expected by early 2028.
Commenting on the deal, LDC chief financial officer Natalia Bernard said the move was intended to “address France Poultry’s urgent need for reorganisation measures and to secure a sustainable pathway for the company’s future operations”.
