Grupo Alacant, the Spanish ice cream manufacturer, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Silver Pail Dairy, one of Ireland’s largest ice cream producers.
Based in Fermoy, County Cork, Silver Pail Dairy specializes in ice cream tubs, frozen yogurt, and sorbet for a portfolio of retailers, brand partners, and foodservice operators. The company, which employs approximately 100 people at its production facility, also markets its own brand, The Creamery, in the Irish retail market. Following the acquisition, the combined group is expected to generate annual revenues of approximately €300 million ($353 million).
The move follows the acquisition of Grupo Alacant by private equity firm Investindustrial last year as the Spanish firm seeks to accelerate its internationalisation strategy in the UK and Irish markets.
Commenting on the deal, Per Harkjaer, chairman of Grupo Alacant, said: “We are convinced that this transaction will allow us to bring substantial value-add to our customers by combining our historical production expertise with Silver Pail’s local presence and relationships”.
Paul Condon, sales director of Silver Pail Dairy, added: “We believe this partnership will allow Silver Pail to become a leading player in the region for years to come supported by Grupo Alacant’s production expertise and broad product portfolio”.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
