Panfacil, the frozen bakery division of the Brazilian milling group Grupo Estrela, has announced an investment of R$44 million ($7.6 million) to expand its manufacturing facility in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul.

The capital injection will be used to enlarge the site’s physical footprint and cold storage infrastructure, as well as to install a new high-speed production line dedicated to French bread (pao frances). According to the company, the upgrade is set to triple the factory’s output to approximately 115,000 units per hour, raising total monthly capacity to 4,400 tonnes.

Bernardo Pretto, commercial director at Panfacil, commented: “We are expanding the building, the refrigerated structure and installing a new specific line for French bread… with greater production capacity and more efficiency. With this, we will be able to increase capacity by 150% to better meet the demands of our customers”.

The expansion, which is scheduled to become operational in the first half of 2026, involves the implementation of automation technology sourced from Canada, France and the Netherlands. The company stated that the project will also generate a 20% increase in the facility’s workforce.

Panfácil, which was established in 1999 to leverage the flour capabilities of its parent company Moinho Estrela, supplies supermarkets, bakeries, and foodservice operators across southern Brazil.
