Pure Foods Tasmania (PFT) has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Australian ice cream and gelato brand Elato Ice Cream (Elato), strengthening its frozen desserts portfolio.
As part of the acquisition, PFT will take ownership of all Elato Ice Cream intellectual property and brand assets, including recipes, formulations and distribution agreements, with plans to establish a dedicated ice cream division. This division will bring together Elato Ice Cream and PFT’s existing frozen-dessert brand, The Cashew Creamery, offering both dairy and plant-based ice-cream products.
Commenting on the move, Elato Ice Cream founder Roz Kaldor‑Aroni said: “The acquisition of Elato after only four years in the market is validation that award-winning products which focus on innovation and community support are appealing to not only the ice cream buying public but also to like-minded innovators like PFT. I am excited to be working with PFT, and we already have a range of new products planned”.
Elato produces dairy ice creams sold along Australia’s East Coast, including in cinemas and more than 400 supermarkets such as Woolworths.
