Ty Nant, a player in the premium bottled water sector, has announced the acquisition of Strathmore Water from AG Barr, the UK-based soft drinks firm.
AG Barr, a British beverage firm known for Irn-Bru and Rubicon, has owned Strathmore Water since 2006. The brand offers still and sparkling water, sourced and bottled in Forfar, Scotland, and distributed across gyms, hotels, events, and leisure venues across the UK.
Commenting on the move, Ty Nant chairman and director Raminder Sidhu said: “We value Strathmore’s history and loyal customer base, and we’re excited to help shape its future. The team in Forfar has played a huge role in the brand’s success through their hard work and dedication and we are glad to be keeping that same exceptional team in place. We’re excited to welcome them to Ty Nant and look forward to supporting them and helping the brand grow”.
In March 2025, AG Barr announced plans to discontinue Strathmore and close its Forfar site by January 2026, putting 23 jobs at risk. Following the acquisition, Ty Nant has confirmed that bottling will continue in Forfar and all jobs have been safeguarded.
