Rustica Foods, a leading privately owned Canadian pizza producer, has announced plans to build a third production facility to expand its market reach.
Founded in 2000, Rustica Foods is a producer of both fresh and frozen pizzas under the Rustica and Mia brands, and also manufactures for major private-label clients in Canada and beyond. It employs 500 staff and generates over C$100 million ($72 million) in revenue.
This expansion is part of a C$65 million ($46.8 million) investment program intended to modernise Rustica Food’s facilities, automate production, introduce advanced technology and boost its manufacturing capacity while driving global expansion.
Commenting on the move, Rustica Foods CEO Richard Morgante said: “Our capacity will increase to 90 million units, compared to 40 million today. That represents 20,000 to 25,000 pizzas per hour”.
Rustica Foods vice president & CSO Vincent Giove added: “This strategic partnership will allow us to fast-track key projects, including the launch of new innovative products and expanding our export markets. We are proud to work with partners who share our vision for sustainable growth driven by innovation”.
