Multinational Dutch brewer Heineken has announced plans to invest R$80 million ($15.75 million) to expand production of Heineken 0.0 at the Araraquara brewer in Sao Paulo, Brazil, according to a report in Industria News.

The news comes a few months after the company unveiled an investment of R$1.5 billion ($243 million) to expand its premium beer operations in Brazil’s Northeast region, focusing on the Amstel and Devassa brands.

In 2021, Brazil became the world’s leading market for Heineken 0.0, the zero-alcohol version of Heineken beer.

Commenting on the investment, Heineken vice president of production Rodrigo Bressan said: “We have seen strong growth in the country and, therefore, we are aware of our responsibility to ensure that the customer relationship with our product is one of balance and awareness. By 2025, our expectation is to have 100% of our points of sale supplied with Heineken 0.0 so that consumers have the option of having a zero-alcohol beer without compromising on quality and flavour, promoting responsible consumption”.
