Verde Valle Foods, a producer and distributor of rice, beans and ready meals in a pouch, has announced the acquisition of A Dozen Cousins, a brand focused on ready-to-eat dishes inspired by Creole, Caribbean, and Latin American traditions.
Founded in 1967, Verde Valle is a third-generation family firm that owns leading brands such as Verde Valle, Isadora and Helena’s Hummus.
Established in 2019, A Dozen Cousins specialises in ready-to-eat foods and sauces made with beans, vegetables and avocado oil, and are claimed to be free from GMOs and artificial flavours.
Commenting on the move, A Dozen Cousins founder and CEO Ibraheem Basir said: “I couldn’t be more excited to partner with the team at Verde Valle. They are trailblazers in the world of pouched meals, and they are going to dramatically strengthen the supply chain and make it easier to share our products with more people”.
Verde Valle Foods US CEO Germán Rosales, Jr. added: “A Dozen Cousins fits right into our growth strategy for ready-to-eat meals in a pouch and will allow Verde Valle to further expand into the natural products segment”.
