Saputo, the Canadian dairy giant, has announced plans to close facilities in Lancaster (WI), Big Stone City (SD), Green Bay (WI), and South Gate (CA), as part of a revamp of its cheese manufacturing networl.
At the same time the company is expanding operations at the new automated cut-and-wrap facility in Franklin (WI).
Commenting on the move, Lino A. Saputo, chair of the board, president and CEO at Saputo, said: “Looking ahead to fiscal 2025, we can’t help but be optimistic. Dairy commodities, while still volatile, are improving, and we are executing on our Global Strategic Plan. We have already started to see the benefits in our results from our major capital projects, and we expect for them to increase through FY25 and accelerate in FY26”.
The company said its US prioirites included strengthening its innovation pipeline, developing new products, and maintaining brand growth while expanding volume with key customers.
