Ruiz Foods, a Mexican food firm, has announced plans to close its manufacturing plant in Tulare, California.
The affected factory commenced operations in 2004 as an extension of the Dinuba plant, initially planned as a short-term supplementary capacity solution.
In a statement, Ruiz Foods said the facility was too small and would need significant capital investment to meet manufacturing requirements and remain a viable part of the company’s network.
The closure is expected to take place in August or September, marking the end of the fiscal year.
Founded in 1964, Ruiz Foods is described as a manufacturer of prepared frozen foods. It has a workforce of more than 4,000 across five manufacturing facilities in California, Texas and South Carolina.
