FMCG giant Nestle has announced plans to launch a new plant-based milk alternative in the US made from a blend of oat and broad (fava) beans.
In a press release, the company said the new dairy alternative has strong nutritional value, with 5g of protein per serving and the benefits of amino acids.
Claimed to have a mild, nutty taste and smooth texture, the drink will be available in both Original and Unsweetened options.
Commenting on the launch, Christoph Bolten, head of the Nestle Institute of Food Sciences, said: “Fava beans are a great source of protein, which is why we are exploring their use in different types of plant-based alternatives. While developing the product, we selected the fava bean variety, that would bring the most complete nutritional elements to the recipe”.
The new beverages will be available throughout the US in grocery stores and mass retailers, under the Natural Bliss brand.
