USA: Nestle in discussions to acquire The Bountiful Company

Multinational food and drinks giant, Nestle has announced that it is in discussions to buy all or part of The Bountiful Company.

The Bountiful Company is a manufacturer, marketer, and seller of vitamins, minerals, and other specialty supplements and active nutrition products.

Majority-owned by private equity firm KKR Co & Inc, The Bountiful Company’s portfolio includes brands such as Nature’s Bounty, Solgar, Pure Protein, Osteo Bi-Flex, Puritan’s Pride, Sundown, Body Fortress, Met-Rx, Ester-C, and Dr. Organic.

Nestle has recently made other acquisitions in the same segment, as the company considers it a growing sector. A majority stake in Vital Proteins was purchased recently and the company also acquired Aimmune Therapeutics and IM HealthScience as well as the functional water brand Essentia Water.

Nestle has not provided further details regarding the acquisition.
